The society held two stands at the weekend.  One stand located in Q block was very effective with recruiting new members from BIT.  Our other stand located in the main corridor by the cash points, was also very successful in generating new members and increasing the public awareness of the society.

15 new members signed up on the over the weekend and 150 people signed up to the newsletter.

After many years of wrestling with the UWE IT department. The Admins have finally decided to allow students to play online computer games via their resnet connections!

This means we can finally play online together without having to LAN to do it. UWE Tech LAN Games will be launching a 'steam' game community with will be open to all UWE students. From this community we aim to select players to compete in national online leagues and train for LAN events.

Games Including :

  • Counter-Strike
  • Counter-Strike : Source
  • Team Fortress 2
  • Call of Duty 4
  • And a few additonal extras will be played.

If you would like more information on how to take part in this, please contact tobes on priortobes [at] hotmail.co.uk

Facebook Event - Forum Discussion

The Society is inviting all members and non-members to attend our Annual General Meeting (AGM) !

We will have an overview of the society's main activities throughout the year, and discuss new and better proposals to improve our society. We must discuss our constitution as well. Only members can vote on issues discussed, and the candidates standing.

You can stand for any of the positions mentioned below (only one from the primary, but you can take on as many from the secondary positions). All positions are Part Time. For those that cant attend the meeting, write a small paragraph about what you intend to do and who you are (in case someone is standing against you), and email it to the current committee. Job sharing roles are possible (two people for the same position).

Sheep Robots Welcome Weekend Stall

Posted by Admin Admin, 2007-09-21 16:39:27

We are hostiing the Sheep robots from the Bristol Robotics Laboratory. Come and join the competition!

Between 11AM and 5PM on Sat 22nd and Sun 23rd September in 2Q Foyer!

And while you are at it, join the new:

Sheep Facebook Group!

The Bristol Robotics Laboratory has kindly offered the UWE Technology Society their Sheep robots, to demonstrate the difference between Autonomous and Remote controlled robots.

These sheep are cuddly and lovely and cute robots. They can behave nicely, or badly (Good sheep! or Bad sheep!) But watch out! Three sheep may already be the beginning of an army? We need people to shepherd them and make sure they dont go out of control !

LAN Gaming session 07 01 2007

We had a great and funny deathmatch session on Half Life with the Gravity Guns.

Two multiplayer sessions with Worms Armageddon ended with some funny and controversial results.

The as-usual Quake 3 Arena was enjoyed throughout by all members, with our games champion protecting his title.

...and finally not to forget, the... ahum... university-student-jokes from Rich.
